The Concept
Standardizing network resource management via Open APIs.
Use case
Managing firewalls is the first use case the project will tackle. The idea is to use abstracted industry standard Open APIs to manage legacy physical firewalls, modern software-defined firewalls, and enabling seamless interchangeability between vendors.
Scope & key activities
The scope of the project is to:
- Build APIs for ordering, configuration, monitoring
- Wrap legacy firewalls with standard API layer
- Integrate & swap modern multi-vendor firewalls
- Develop catalogs for API payload management
- Publish guidance into AN Architecture
- Showcase a live demo at Innovate Asia in Bangkok on 25-27 November 2025.
Outcomes
The project will produce a unified set of industry-standard Open APIs, simplified management (removing EMS/NMS), proof of vendor-agnostic operations, and a blueprint for AI-enabled, cloud-native networks.
